On Friday 18 October the Border Tales Winter Festival action begins at 10am–12 noon in Duns Primary School as storytellers from the Scottish Storytelling Centre in Edinburgh and beyond, work their story magic for children and parents. In the afternoon Pop-up Storytellers will perform at Boston Court, 2–4pm (tbc); Maxwell’s Tea Room and Antiques Shop, 2–4pm; at the Black Bull Hotel from 4–5pm and from 7.30–10pm, more stories. Prices vary for these events and some are donations only.On Saturday 19 October there will be events at the Volunteer Hall for all ages. The fabulous Macastory will perform their own brand of storytelling madness and mayhem for children in the morning from 10am–12 noon. In the afternoon from 2–4pm the Purple, White and Green perform their combination of theatre, song and image to tell the story of Scottish suffragettes to adults and older children. There will also be a Gathering of Storytellers and open mic session in the evening. Get in touch if you have a story, or some jokes, to tell.
