How To Add Events To Border Events

While we have made the process of adding events as easy as possible, you will find it easiest to add events using a desktop or laptop computer.

You will see four tabs:

Event Details:

The basic details of your event.

Calendar:

This is where you will define when your event is taking place.

Magazine Entry

To enable us to pack as many events into our printed magazine as possible, the maximum length of your event's title is 30 characters (including spaces) and the description is 100 characters (including spaces). The 'Magazine Entry' tab is where you will enter the title and description for the printed magazine.

Box Office

This is for information only. You do not need to enter any details here.

Calendar

How you complete the Calendar section depends on the the frequency of the event you are listing. Our events system can cater for a variety of these:

One-off (No Repeat):

Your event occurs just once.

Repeating Daily:

Your event occurs every day of the week over a period of time.

Repeating Weekly:

Your event occurs at least once per week over a period of time.

Repeating Monthly:

Your event occurs regularly at least once throughout each month over a period of time.

Repeating Yearly:

Your event appears regularly at least once throughout the year over a period of time.

Start, End, Duration

These details are the same no matter what type of event you're adding.

All day Event...:

Tick this box if your event does not have a specified start/end time.

12 hour

By default, event start and end times are entered in 24 hour format. Tick this box if you would like to specify the times in 12 hour am/pm format.

Start Date:

This is the date on which your event first occurs. If it is a one-off, non-repeating event then this is the only date on which it occurs.

End Date:

The end date should always be set to the same as the start date.

If your event is running for two or more consecutive days, use the 'Daily' option below.

Start Time / End Time:

The start and end times for your event.

No specific end time:

If your event has no specified end time, tick this box instead of entering an End Time for it.

If your event is due to end after midnight, tick the "No specific end time" box and include the anticipated end time in your description.

Determining date and start & end time

One-Off Events (No Repeat)

Select the "No Repeat" option.

Use this for events that occur just once. For example, if you are a community group and you organise individual fundraising events throughout the year, e.g. coffee mornings, you would enter each one as a one-off event.

Does this event occur more than once?

Daily Events

Select the "Daily" option.

Use this for events that occur either every day or at regular intervals, e.g. every other day, every third day, etc., over a period of time.

Repeat Interval:

This determines how often your event takes place. If it's every day, the repeat interval is '1'; if it takes place every other day, the repeat interval is '2', and so on.

Repeat Count:

Use either 'Repeat Count' or 'Repeat Until' to determine when your event ends. Using 'Repeat Count' and setting it to 5 will produce 5 identical entry listings.

Repeat Until:

Used as an alternative to 'Repeat Count', you can set the the date up to when your repeating event is running.

Use this for events that occur either every month or at regular intervals, e.g. every other month, every third month, etc., over a period of time.
