Celebrating Sir Walter Scott and the rich ballad tradition of the Scottish Borders.....
In what promises to be a spell-binding afternoon of songs and tales, Lucy Macrae and Kaye McAlpine of the School of Scottish Studies will lead the way on a journey deep into the ‘Debateable Lands’ of the Scottish Borders, a region laden with history and myth from which Sir Walter Scott drew inspiration and material for his seminal ballad collection Minstrelsy of the Scottish Border. These evocative Border ballads will be brought to life by well-kent Borders singers Kathy Hobkirk, Elsa Lemaitre and Henry Douglas, and acclaimed young traditional singer Naomi Harvey. Set against a visual backdrop, this special event will weave together history, myth, landscape and song and is not to be missed!
